Ricky Tims Dropped in to say Hi!

I was so excited today I could hardly stand it! Ricky Tims dropped in on our little Anchorage Log Cabin Quilt show to say "hi", & about 100 (give or take 50)quilters from all over the place, came off the cruise ship with him! We were all thrilled! Since I neglected to get a photo with him when he stayed in my house 2 years ago, I got one today (& tomorrow I go back to Weight Watchers!!! Where in the world did that 2nd chin come from?!! Oh well, I don't care, I was just so tickled to see him again!)I also got to meet a lot of very nice quilters & interesting people, & may have picked up a few students for my Whidbey Island class in April/May. Ricky also talked about the seminars he's doing now, & how we need to have one up here in 2009 or 2010. I am in complete agreement & will do whatever I can to make it happen.

Our featured quilter for this show is Irene Stewart. She's a long time member of our guild, & one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. These are a few of her quilts.

In this next photo, Mary Lee, our out-going president (in Red) is talking to Irene, in the middle of Irene's section of the show.

These are some of the garments on the stands that one of our member's Kathy Harte's husband made for our display, & some other members made the faces for them.

This next quilt is Mary Lee's paper peiced quilt from a pattern by ......sorry, I can't think of her name right now, she's a traditional with a twist person who is well known & I'm drawing a big blank ,I think it might be Judy N..? Somebody help me here & I'll edit this section!

These next 2 aren't quilted yet. They are works in progress from my Calendar Girls Group. Both are from my own photos , I blew them up on to freezer paper, then sliced the 2 into 11 sections (5 on one & 6 on the other), for the number that wanted to participate. I numbered each secton, then we drew a number, & had to take the corresponding piece to make the quilt. 2 people pieced them together, & tomorrow they will come home with me to be quilted. This photo was from my window box.

The Alaska State Fair flower cart.

I'll post some more quilts tomorrow night!

I love your flowerbox idea! How about arranging some kind of retreat for some of us to come to Alaska.. . . with or without Ricky Timms.

I take it that profile photo is not recent. You should post a recent picture (like crop the one you just posted-it would be ideal!)
