Rayna Gillman Class

I'm sure you are all tired of seeing my vacation pictures lingering here. Work has been stressful lately, & this weekend I am rewarding myself by taking a 3 day quilting workshop.
We are so lucky to have gotten Rayna Gillman up to Anchorage, thanks to the efforts of Nan Thompson from Seward. The picture above is the fabric wrapped welcome gift I made for her lecture Thursday evening. Below is what was inside. The bead is one of my own lampwork beads, The  folder is made of Timtex covered with paper towels, that I had used for cleanup on dyes (too pretty to throw away). Next I layered on bits of fabric, threads, Angelina fibers & topped it with Tulle & last a silk organza. Couched down yarns,

& lined with cottons. Added a tablet, pen & pencil.

Rayna's class, first day was fun.

It's Cinderella Quilts; taking orphan or ugly blocks & making them into something more artful.

Below is the block I started with

Here is the same block in progress. Tomorrow I will try to get shots of some of the other's work. Mine is pathetic in comparison to what else was there. It's OK though, I had a GREAT time, & it beats working!
