Gifts

My dear, sweet, whacky sister Em sent me a surprise package in the mail. It's a Girl! I honestly found it a little bit freaky when I opened it. It looked so much like a dead baby laying in a casket. I lost a child about this size, so believe me, I know what they look like!
But when I picked her up, & held her, I cried.

She has soft mohair eyelashes, & fuzzy hair on her head. I'm not sure what to name her yet. At least she doesn't require hiring a babysitter, or diapers, & I'll never have to worry about who she's dating.

My new iron came today! That made me happy. I hope I love it as much as my old one. The one thing I noticed that's different, & I think I'm not too crazy about it, is the sole plate is different. It has more holes & grooves. I liked the flat center on my old iron. When fusing fabric flat is sometimes better than steam holes.
Another little gift I noticed today is this magnet of kitties drinking from a bowl. My DH says he has no idea where it came from. The bowl is one that my friends Trace & Dave gave me, from an old restaurant here in Anchorage. I keep water in it here for Broc to drink when he's in my studio with me. So where did the magnet come from? Mindy, or Judy? Was it you?

Boy that baby really does look real. I just recently bought myself a new Rowenta too. I got the one with the clear water reservoir and the iron sits at an angle on the hot plate. I love rowenta irons, they're great.

That doll is remarkable. Any idea where your sister purchased it or the name of it? Christmas is coming and my granddaughters sure love baby dolls!

Maybe you should have a name the baby contest!!
She came from ebay but they stress they are works of art, not toys. Search for 'reborn baby dolls' or something like that.

I thought it was a real baby sleeping...do you collect dolls?

I need a new iron...my current one is a very old Rowenta that is leaking badly (its had it share of bumps and bruises). How much water does it hold in the reservoir?

I thought it was real, too. This is definitely not a doll for children!

Know you are glad to get your iron. Makes a difference when its association in not just for getting clothes ready to wear!

jeezus that was freaky for a second! I couldn't get my head wrapped around you getting a BABY in the mail!?!?!?

it looks SO REAL. my gosh. its beautiful. My sympathy on losing a baby; I lost a teenage son and know some of those same feelings and memories. :)

I think a name-the-baby contest would be fun, but you might come up with something better yourself.

congrats on the new iron - be sure to post a review when you've used it awhile.

That baby is creepy-real. I can only imagine the pain you must have felt at seeing this baby lying in its "casket." I do know for real that you never get over the pain of a loss of a child. Never.

Hope you like your new iron--let us know. I would love an iron that has no steam holes and no auto shut-off. That would be a real treat.

Wow....that baby doll does look like the geniune article.

Okay, here's my vote on the name:

"Maggie Caroline". That was the name I had picked out for the Dyl Pickle and then found he had no 'pickle'!

I like the name Joy.......that's what she'd have been if she lived here.

Those dolls are amazing. Mom bought herself one too, her name is Jolee (Sarah Jo, Jenny Lee). You can special order them too. I found a website on Reborn Babies that had a gorgeous little toe-head baby with huge cheeks, and thought, "hey-that's my kids!!" These women sure can do amazing things to a cheap little store bought doll. They're beautiful!

How incredible. She looks like she'll turn her head and suck that hand. She sure is beautiful. Now be careful, word is, a beautiful baby can make those ovaries start kickin' in again!
