Moose, owl, & Camai

Forget-me-nots, & a few poppies have survied the construction zone that our house has been for the past 2 years. Although the moose have eaten a few of the poppy heads, so at least 10 blooms won't get to bloom.

This moose & her baby spent Wed. night, & all day Thursday in the yard, napping, & doing some weed control for us, not to mention entertaining us with their nursing, & napping, & just being moose. My kids loved seeing them.

We had to take Jon & Michelle to the airport last night. Our week together went so FAST. I hated to see them go. Darian will stay for a few more weeks, then we will visit them in August, in Seattle. So it's camai (Alaskan for Aloha) my dear kids, until August.

On my way out of the door, to start the car, a GREAT HORNED OWL, flew from on top of our hot tub, to a tree about 20 feet in front of me. I stopped dead in my tracks & just watched him, while I pulled my camera out of my purse. I tryed getting pictures, but it was getting too dark, & the camera cycled too slow. All I ended up with were blurry dark trees. :-( but what an exciting expierience to actually SEE the owl in person, in the wild. I've heard them hooting before, but never got to see one in my yard! Jon was the only other one who got to see it with me.

Your poppies are an incredible shade of blue! They look like the tissue paper flowers I used to buy on Olivera Street in Los Angeles when I was a girl. Spectacular.

Those poppies are amazing. I love the color! I have seen a great horned owl in the cypress trees near the coast. They are huge creatures! That moose looks hungry.
