Here are the first 6 months of the year together on my design wall. For June, I wanted it to be all about the Midnight Sun. I had very little free time to work on it, so I did fast & easy, & just had fun! I didn't want to have a rectangle this time, I wanted a big round sun, & an image of the lupine that are growing right now at the bottom of our hill. I did raw edge pieces on the sun face, then layered a piece of off white tuelle with little dots of glitter on it over the top, then free motioned quilted & free motion zig-zag on the edge. The flowers I did with free motion thread painting on a wash-away stabilizer. Simple fast & fun!

Way cool...I love how it turned out and seeing all of your pages in one shot is pretty neat...you have a nice collection. My collection I am 'planning' on creating a center piece with a tree on it and attaching all the months to it and making it into a wall hanging...but that all depends on if they play nice together when they are all done!
I haven't tried the tulle technique yet...have to buy some as I have none on hand...but it looks interesting. Another item for my shopping list for Saturday's shopping trip!
Incredible!
Love that sun!
Deb, I love this. It is so great that you went with a circular piece.
So effective and yet so fast to create...I just love that!
That is so fantastic! I love suns, probably because I was born on July 31 .
I agree with suze. How great to see all the pages together. And I like the way you have silhouetted the flowers against the sun, also. Midnight sun--how perfect for you!
I love your big round sun! It's always great to see shaped quilts.
Sometimes the quick and easy things turn out the best because we don't spend alot of time forcing them to be a certain way and they then have their own natural grace.
Very...very... very cool! I like your techniques and it really looks great.

How absolutely gorgeous!
Oh Deb - your Midnight Sun piece is simply GORGEOUS!!!
WOW!
I'm sure in person its even more vibrant.
These look great, Deb!
Wow! Love the departure from the rectangular shape. Nice, too, to see the 6 mos. worth of journals.
That is just superb! I LOVE the round format, the quilting pattern, the color combination, the lupine, etc.....
And your wall of 6 looks great, too!
Midnight sun and lupine... romantic and totally lovely!!! Beautiful communication of your love for this time of year in Alaska.
WOW - your June Journal is great - I love the texture in it. We have lupines in TX - our state flower is the Blue Bonnet - from the Lupine family - they bloom in Mar/April - so it is nice to see you have them in Alaska too... PP
I am only just now catching up with the journal quilt posts.
Yours is great! I like the shape that you went with and the overlapping of the flowers over the sun!
