Hazy Day of Summer

It feels like August is trying to make up for July this year. We've had a lovely string of warm summer days, that really feel like summer. Darian & I went out for another hike. We were going to hike from the Potter Creek trail head, but when we got there we realized you have to pay a State Park fee now, & I didn't bring any money with me, so we turned around & went to Potter's Marsh instead. The marsh is just on the south end of Anchorage, * there is a long boardwalk for observing the birds. It's only a few miles down the mountain from our house. All of you who have visited us will recognize it.

It was about 85 degrees F, very warm & hazy.

I liked this birdhouse someone built out here.

There were a lot of fish to watch. These red ones are Chinook Salmon, & we had a good time watching them spawn.
There were also a bunch of Pinks. Ugly isn't it?

Darian was especially good at picking out the dragonflies on the marsh grasses. There were big huge blue ones too, but unfortunately they didn't land for a picture. They were a good 5-6 inches long. Did I mention how much I love Dragonflies?

When were first spotted this duck in the grass we thought it was a stump.
The fireweed is blooming at the very top now. That means 6 more weeks & we should be seeing some snow fall again.
Summer sure goes by quickly here. Even being off of work all summer it's just flown by. I'm making progress with my Physical Therapy. I went from 83 to 90 degrees extension today with the massage, & am do active range of motion exercises now. I expect I'll be going back to work in just a few more weeks.

I have a thing for dragonflies too! One summer we had tons of them at the river.........I got them to land on my fingers and even took a photo or 2.

Sorry to hear you have to go back to work!! Love you!

Great photos! We are having the same weather here in Chicagoland as you are. Your photos remind me of the state park where I love going and taking a bike ride or hike.

Glad your shoulder is improving. Wonderful photos, that fallen tree in the water looks like the greatest sculpture. What is it about dragonflies that gets to us so?
