For any of my snowbird friends who might be missing Alaska right now, don't. This is what it looked like all day yesterday, & again this afternoon. We did have a few hours of bright sunshine this morning, but it was back to rain & spring breakup by 3 pm. The car below was one of the cleaner ones on the road.
The mess outside has been reflected by the mess with in these past few days too. We're installing some cabinets in my studio space, & I shoved everything from that side of the room into the middle while we worked on getting them in. I'm going in there to clean when I get done here. I still have to finish the ribbons for the Alaska Fiber Festival too. Next weekend is the show.
We worked on last minute plans, getting gift bags ready, & display tables set for the show. That's fellow blogger Roxanne on the far right. Tomorrow night is the kickoff starting with the Quilt Walk downtown. I have 6 of my own quilts, plus 2 of my antiques quilts hanging around town right now. Between work & all this stuff, I feel like my vacation is only a distant memory. Warren went back to work this evening.
At quilt guild today Linda Postlethwait showed this beauty. It was so big she had to hang it from the balcony to show it.
My pal Mary Lee made this cute one. I had to post these for Margaret to see. We miss you Margaret.

When I was in Anchorage I was there before breakup and when I returned from Fairbanks on the way home breakup was in full swing. What a mess! I never saw such slushy, dirty cars.

But I want to come back! I've already started dropping hints for next March.

That is a gorgeous quilt hanging from the rail! I'd endure spring break up to spend a couple weeks with you!!
Is your long arm going to fit in the studio? It'll be fun filling those cabinets. I hope you can find stuff after you get organized!! Love you!

Vacations have a way of doing that...melting into memory upon "re-entry"...just spend a little time with your pictures once in awhile to bring it all back!
Plus, you are going to have a super quilt show to take your mind off the gray. Have fun!

You have less snow than us!And we're expecting another 5 to 7 inches tonight. Enough already!

I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of the Fiber Festival. Wish I was there with you, I'll miss it. It doesn't look like you have room this year in your quilt studio for our night time quilt retreat, but I suppose we could have suffered and went in the hot tub instead!

Does look a mite dreary up your way! We have rain here today as well but it is in the mid-50's so not bone-chilling cold at least. I love that gorgeous applique quilt and good luck with the show.

Wonderful Album quilt; is it needle turn applique?
We don't have just one breakup, our whole month of March is snow one day, melt two, then more snow. Lots of mud, but probably not as deep as your mud.
