Vacation on Orcas Island

I bet you are wondering where we've been.
Well 3 weeks ago my computer died. The hard drive is a goner. Then we left on vacation for 2 weeks. We got back last weekend, & Sunday I got a new computer. I've been busy working on a customer quilt & getting familiar with this new computer. I like it, but wish the thumbnails could be larger. I'm having a hard time seeing what I'm posting!
As far as our vacation is concerned, we had a lovely time. We spent the first week on the east coast, & the last week on the west coast. I am posting a few pictures from our stay on Orcas Island, Washington. Later I'll post more on the New England part of the trip.
This was the view from our cottage on Orcas Island, Deer Harbor.
The individual cottages were really nice. We got 2. One for us & one for family & friends who came too.
Here are my DGD & DD trying out the furniture inside.
Warren sat by the pool reading while I swam almost every morning.
It was heated, & it was wonderful.
We went all over the Island. Jon did a show the first night we were there. The next day we checked out East Sound, & of course we ate well.
This little 3 wheeled vehicle was interesting. I think it looks like a cartoon.
Darian is so cute.
When the kids went home, friends Ilene & Stu came to stay.
We did a little hiking, (even with our bad knees).
This little waterfall was pretty.
This was the highest point on the island.
The view was great.
There are deer everywhere .
We found an artist named James Hardman (on the right). I had to get a shot of him with Warren, since James Hardman is warren's brother's name too.
There is a beautiful old mansion called Rosario. It was well worth the admission to see the place, then stay for an hour of piano & organ music by musician Christopher Peacock, & see slides about the history of the island. This was the light fixture in the music room.
This mosaic floor was on the main level.
We had some fantastic meals. I loved the fresh tomatoes.
These were at the Inn at Ship Bay, one of several really good dinners we had on Orcas.
Evenings were crisp, & hints of autumn were everywhere.
Low tides exposed purple & orange star fish on the rocks.

This was on a wall at a pottery shop we stopped at.

I loved this island & could see myself living there. It was peaceful & quiet, & friendly.

Welcome back! The waterfall is beautiful-what a nice trip. (Eager to see pics of the quilting you do on this present project!)

Nice to have you back! Orcas Island is one of my favorite place on Earth. I have stayed at the cottages, Rosario Resort, gone up the tower and saw the cascade, the only thing missing on your post is Doe Bay where we were going kayaking. Thank you for bringing me back.
